Biography
Kino was born in a village in Mor Dhona in 1542 of the 6th Astral Era. He had a pretty peaceful and uneventful childhood, learning from his parents how to hunt and how to defend himself from beasts and voidsent.However, in 1562 of the 6th Astral Era, when he was 20, the Empire waged battle with Midgardsormr in Mor Dhona, and his village was destroyed during the conflict. As Kino and his parents worked to try and evacuate the villagers, his face was wounded by some flung debris, and his parents were tragically lost in the devastation.

After giving his parents a proper burial, Kino chose not to stick around as Camp Revenant’s Toll was founded on the remains of his village. Instead, he wandered around Thanalan, moving from settlement to settlement and doing odd jobs to keep himself fed and sheltered for a few years, until he finally found Little Ala Mhigo. Finding common ground with the Ala Mhigan refugees, who also lost their home to the Empire, Kino decided to stay there with them.While living among the Ala Mhigan refugees, Kino learned more advanced combat techniques. But when the Battle of Carteneau came, Kino decided to stay clear of the conflict altogether, deciding that the Empire had already taken enough from him, and he wasn’t going to give them his life.

It was after the Calamity itself happened and the dust settled, however, that Kino had wished he’d tried to actually help keep people safe instead of sitting the battle out. After a few years went by, Kino finally decided to end his self-imposed exile from larger civilization and travel to Ul’dah to join the Adventurer’s Guild and see what he could do to help the people still rebuilding from the Calamity, and also maybe find himself and his fortune along the way.He eventually began mentoring an asipring Adventuerer named Cocolima Kokolima, and befriended a Guild Retainer named J'ocasta Kayah. The three of them currently run a Mercenary Business called Chocobros Contracting.
Abilities
Kino possesses a keen talent with weaponry, having a penchant for being able to pick up any weapon at his disposal and wield it competently if not expertly given some cursory training.This is fortunate, as Kino's magical aptitude is lacking. He can bend aether insofar as bolstering his armed combat skills and providing himself minor healing and protection, but weilding actual true magic eludes him in all of his attempts.He has a preference for melee combat, specifically with a one-handed sword or a spear, that being where his armed prowess shines best, but he is also decent with a bow.


Concealed Arms
Even on social occassions, Kino will almost never be caught without armaments. Whether he is wearing his casual clothing, his dress ensemble, his clubbing attire, or any "on-the-spot" outfit he has a need to throw together, he will always have a short sword tucked in the left leg of his bottoms, and a small buckler tucked up in the back of his top. He also lines the inside of the aforementioned wardrobe with chain mail for extra protection just in case.The only exception is when he is in his swimwear, which cannot accomodate his usual sidearms and chainmail lining, so he keeps a small pair of steel knuckles tucked into his trunks and opts to defend himself via old-fashioned fisticuffs.
RP Hooks
• Kino loves Chocobos. If your character owns Chocobos or races Chocobos or is otherwise also a Chocobo enthusiast, that is definitely a conversation-starter.• When selecting and arranging combat gear, Kino has a strict "no loose garments" policy. As a matter of pragmatism, he will not include any capes, cloaks, scarves, skirts, or anything of the like that could potentially sway around and get snagged or grabbed and used against him. He tends to be a bit more cavalier when it comes to non-combat outfits, especially costumes for social events. However, if the costume is based on any type of combat gear, he will openly complain that he would never utilize such garments in an actual combat situation.• Kino carries a folded up parchment, on which is a landscape drawing of Mor Dhona before it was ravaged by the Empire and Midgardsormr. It was drawn by a young woman named Tamia, whose relationship to him remains a mystery, but who he's implied he hasn't seen since their village was destroyed, unsure himself whether or not she actually survived. The drawing she made for him was miraculously intact in the wreckage of his home. He's said that he looks upon the drawing before he sets out on an adventure or a job, to remind himself what he's lost, and that he would strive to prevent anybody he can from similar loss.• Kino doesn't typically like to harbor negativity or hatred, but for the Garlean Empire he will make an exception. Because of them basically taking everything away from him, he violently loathes the Empire and anything to do with it. He has also been observed to respond sharply to anybody showing disrespect to people he cares about.
